We've been working very hard on our advertisements for "the greatest invention ever"! For the past 2 days we have been planning exactly what persuasive words and phrases we want to use to on our ad. We've been looking at ads to find out how word choice matters! We have even discussed how the size of words, the position of words and even the fonts used to write words can help focus a reader's attention. Finally, we analyzed advertisements in our folders and noticed that every ad we cut out seems to answer the 4 famous questions: what, where, when and why. With this information, over the course of 2 blocks, each student has planned and created a rough copy of their advertisement for their "great invention".
We will be presenting these rough copies to two different focus groups before we create a final good copy for the folder. The first focus group is... you! The second focus group will be their peers back in class. Tonight, please take a look at the rough copy ad and initial it. Next, on the back of the ad, please take a moment to write:
- one or two tickled pink statements- something (or things) about the ad that really works, stands out and needs to stay!
- one or two "room to grow" statements- something (or things) that could use additional work when its time for the good copy.
Thank you in advance!
